CHARITY

When we come together to celebrate and enjoy the beautiful moments of life, we should also think of those less fortunate and what we can do to help make their lives a bit more enjoyable as well. That’s why WeihnachtsZauber Gendarmenmarkt donates every year part of its earnings to charity. In 2018, we were able to again present district mayor Dr. Christian Hanke with a check for over € 80.000.
This annual donation helps us together with our business partners and sponsors to support people in need and be involved with numerous social and cultural projects mainly in the borough of Berlin Mitte, true to the motto “My Berlin, My city”. Since 2003 our primary focus is on support for socially disadvantaged children and homeless people.
We also run our own charity project, the annual “Summer Camp” in the Tyrolean Alps which for the past 15 years has afforded pupils from socially troubled areas in Berlin to experience the benefits of healthy eating and outdoor activities.

Summer Camp Zillertal
This summer – as it has been the tradition for the past 15 years – pupils from Anna-Lindh school were scheduled for the “Summer Camp Zillertal”. Sportive activities, fun, adventure and cooking together were the focus of this summer’s school trip to Zillertal.
Pupils to participate in the summer camp were selected according to their level of engagement in school life and having received good grades.
Regular parts of the trip were excursions to the “Erlebniswelt Hexenwasser”, a guided tour through the Bees’ House, rides with the mountain cable car, hiking, climbing and dinners together.
Like every year the hiking tour up to the Berliner Hütte was a great adventure for the kids.
As always, highlights are the rafting tour on the Ziller and the descent on the summer tobogganing track at the “Arena Coster”.
After 7 wonderful days the trip ended with an atmospheric campfire.
We at WeihnachtsZauber Gendarmenmarkt would like to thank all helpers and supporters and are always looking forward to yet another trip with the pupils from Anna-Lindh School.

Sincerely yours,
Mary and Helmut
